The endangered animal that I chose to research is the Monarch butterfly. I have seen one in my lifetime in Monterey, California where there's many of them. I noticed that I haven't seen one in a while and came to find out that they are going extinct. They are mainly in prairies, meadows, grasslands and along roadsides, across most of North America. Milkweed and flowering plants are needed for monarch habitat as well. They feed on the nectar from flowers, which contain sugars and other nutrients. spiders and fire ants kill and eat monarch eggs and caterpillars. Some birds and wasps feed on adult butterflies. There are around 10 million left and they are going extinct because landscape-scale threats from pesticides, development and climate change. Monarchs have declined 85% in two decades. The way we can contribute to lessen the extiction is to get more milkweeds and nectar plants into the landscape to support monarchs. But it is also important that we choose these plants carefully. Work done by Project Monarch Health is showing that it is better to plant native milkweed species, specific to our geographic area. gaging communities in recovery efforts and empowering people to grow native plants like milkweed in the places where they live, work, learn, play, and worship.

I used the seven elements of are which are color, form, line, shape, space, texture. and value. Color (entire picture) which is the type of hue we see, line ( separated body parts of the butterfly) which is the path of the points moving through space, shapes ( butterfly wings, body, antenas) which are flat enclosed areas creating a form, texture ( the wings and body which is how the surface would feel like, value which is the brightness or darkness of a color, space which is used to create the illusion of space, and form which are three dimensional shapes that have volume and take up space.
